Life Under a Big Sky

The other night I was wandering back roads in Vilnius, Lithuania. (I don't even need to say "virtually" do I? So has our world changed.) I came upon a farm scene. I was struck with the vast sky, how small those silos and farm buildings looked against the sun breaking through the clouds. That tree line just takes your eyes right to the bright spark in the sky. (I apologize that I cannot link the actual scene, it appears I messed it up when I recorded it.)

Being in their infancy, my watercolor skills cannot quite capture it. But, I do like how that tree line came out! This is the fun of sketching everyday, you can just play around. Today is day 22 of 31.

It's a wonderful painting! I love the looseness of it.

Rose, your skills look pretty darn awesome for being in their infancy! Do you enjoy working with watercolors? It is such a big change from the control of colored pencils. I hope you are having fun because it sure looks like you are!!

Thanks Stacy, that means alot on a night when I needed a lift. I am loving the watercolors - they are so much quicker then CPs. They're also quicker to a mess but it's easy to try again. This was the first sketch where I stretched the paper - definitely made a difference and it wasn't too hard. Thanks again. Any wisdom either of you two accomplished watercolorists have for me is welcome!
