A Lovely View, colored pencil on paper

Can you imagine sitting underneath a shower of dappled pink light? I think this little junco rather enjoyed his view underneath the spring blossoms on my redbud tree. Sunlight filtering through delicate pink petals must have made for a peaceful canopy under which to sit and rest your wings for a spell.

Here are a few details of the drawing:

There are two schools in the colored pencil art world - those who hide their marks (works like this often look like an oil painting) and those who don't. I'm decidedly of the latter camp, I think there is something intimate about being about to see the marks the artist made. I also think it creates movement in the drawing.

i to think it creates movement in a drawing, and have been trying to be a bit more looser with my cp work, but it can be hard sometimes not to focus on the detail of things and break the shapes down so i can get the loose marks on the page.
