Paintbrush Fun Run

Open Acrylics on acrylic paper,
9 in x 12 in,
(as this was just for fun, the paper support was just fine)

I used to run...run competitively. I spent lots of time running to get faster, stronger, and more likely to win races. But, there were days when I ran just because I liked the motion and the calmness it brought to me.

Tonight's painting session was a run with the brushes like that...just for fun, just to try a few things out and enjoy the process.

And now I can take that calmness off to bed...one can always hope...sleep has been elusive this week!

Fabulous! This works beautifully Rose. Everything's fallen into place, the looseness, the colours, the values...you've got a winner.

BTW, I used to run too...still try it occasionally to prove how out of shape I still am. :)

Rose this is a beautiful painting!! I really think you work well with the open acrylics. And your study into painting is really beginning to pay off. Keep up the great work!

I agree with Jeanette, this is fabulous, Rose.

I get the same thing out of swimming that you get out of running.

Now I'm trying to work out what open acrylics are.

Jeanette - thanks. I don't run anymore, the joints won't have it!

Jennifer - thanks, and I did get to sleep in today, hubby is very good to me!

Stacy - thanks, I hope it all starts falling into place.

Robyn and Judy (via email) - Open acrylics are made by Golden. They are an attempt to make acrylics work like oils. I've discovered that the oils give me a headache - and that the acrylics are much easier to clean up. So, I decided to try the open acrylics, so far so good - I really like them. Here's a link on Dick Blick. In fact, right now on Blick they have a special, buy $45 or more and you get some free mediums and some free titanium white. They are really fun, I am very happy with them.

Kasie and Miki - thanks!

Golden also has extensive info on their website.

Also, my buddy Jo Castillo has started using them and she has a post about them with links to interviews.

Gosh, this is pretty, Rose. You are just trucking along and doing so well. I really like painting with red and you must as well.

Thanks Jo. Actually, it's that the Costco flower buyer likes red...I wanted to get something that wasn't red, but the options were limited. I want to try and paint flowers of all different colors and shapes, but that is proving difficult!

I really love this one Rose!

And I am not a runner. I do not run. No running. What is this "run" you speak of?

:~)
