Top Five Big Blogs of 2008

Sketches made with my new open acrylics!

Top Five Big Blogs of 2008

I love all sorts of blogs, and all of them are special to me in their own way. (I even purged my reader list this year and many I just couldn't part with.) I can't possibly name all of the smaller ones and what I enjoy about them, I thought that I'd just name my favorite "big" ones this year.

  1. Making a Mark - Katherine Tyrrell has consistently strong and timely content and information. The blog seems to have taken a new direction this year.
  2. Empty Easel - Dan has expanded this year with more writers, it has made the site even better. There is alot of great advice there.
  3. National Portrait Gallery blog - there aren't that many institutional blogs that I enjoy, this one is a notable exception. There's alot for the art buff and the history buff.
  4. Lines and Colors - I think Charley Parker is directly responsible for the expansion of my art library this year. He has lots of good information, but I really enjoy the bios of illustrators and the book reviews.
  5. Dani Jones Illustration - this one earns a spot here because of this article on style - but there is alot of good advice here.

Thank you Rose - you have always been one of my most dedicated fans!

I guess the big difference this year was speading my content a bit wider. I'm now contributing to five blogs!

Very good choices Rose. I agree, its difficult to decide as there are so many wonderful blogs to choose from.

I like your poinsettia very much. Those new acrylics seem to work well... :)

Very good choices. I haven't visited empty easel for a while, but I think I will stop back there now.

If I were to do a similar post you'd definitely make my top 5! You're directly responsible for getting me starting blogging and I'm so glad you did! I've met lots of super nice people, seen lots of inspiring art and found that art bloggers are so unselfish in sharing their time and expertise that it's humbling. So, Thank You, Rose.... you're an inspiration! Oh, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Ah, Rose. Nice. I just got some of those Open acrylics to try.

Great selection of blogs. Between Katherine and you, I don't have to do much homework!

Thanks.....
