Thank you to those who encouraged me yesterday, by phone and comment. I'm still battling it out with the oils. I do really enjoy working with them, even if I find the skill at the end of the handle a little lacking ;-). This is last night's effort...not a great photo, but we're in the midst of several gray rainy days here.

I'm glad you are sticking with painting. Like anything else there is a learning curve to get beyond. Your drive and determination will get you there, I'm sure. It's great to see your progress through these works.
I know that feeling of battling through something.

I completely believe the shadows and lighting direction and the three-dimensionality of these pears, Rose. Way cool.
