Saving from the brink

This is a sketch of a plant I am trying to save from the brink - sadly it is my fault it was on the brink to begin with.

I did another drawing earlier today, which I won't show - hope I can save that from the brink!

Wonderful sketch! Is it a jade plant? I have a jade plant that was one of my mother-in-law's collection of jade plants that she grew so effortlessly. It has been barely hanging on since living here with me :-) I really like what you have been doing in watercolor lately! Isn't it fun splashing around with paint?

Hi Ann, thanks. It isn't a jade plant. My MIL sent it as a get well present - it's a kalanchoe. It came in a basket, which I briefly thought at the time "I should make sure that drains well." But, of course, I did not. I just enjoyed the lovely blooms. Then, when it was clearly suffering, I investigated. It was swimming in water! So, I trimmed it back, cut away all disease, and haven't watered it in a while. We'll see. :-) Yes, I am enjoying the watercolor - there is so much to learn. I've been practicing doing even and graded washes...keeps me very humble.
