Rose for Daily Paintworks Challenge

Rose for Love
7in x 5in
colored pencil on Stonehenge paper
The folks over at Daily Paintworks started a new challenge a few weeks back. They offer one photo a week for as a challenge for others to enjoy. For Valentine's Day, Qiang Huang offered a rose with his trademark dramatic lighting. He's a fabulous painter - I often just stare at his brushstrokes and wonder at the balance and movement he achieves. On his blog he announced a recent article about him in Southwest Art.

I tried a few new things here, with some of it to my liking. So, I'll take those points and move on to the next adventure. The newest challenge is up, but it's a 3 color challenge - and while that works wonderfully in paint and to some degree in pencils, there just isn't the same range available with 3 pencils as 3 colors of paint. But, I hate to turn my back on a challenge, we'll see.
