Have a good weekend everyone!

How do you like it so far?

As you said Steve, I like the forgiveness of it. I had completely forgotten to put in a highlight on the apple, but the white went over the reds just fine.

And I like that it's a board, just feels more substantial than paper.

I may try a board with a less sandy surface also, see what that's like.

Looks like a great start here! Be careful though. Once you get going with pastel board you are likely to prefer working on it! It is very forgiving and very much like painting,I find. Have fun!

Ann, you are so right - I am rather reluctant to go back to paper. I like drafting film for the same reasons - forgiving and it feels like painting. On drafting film the smoothness of it gives me the painting feel. On pastelbord, it's the strength of the colors and the "board" aspect of it that make it feel like painting to me.

I agree with Ann. Pastelbord is very addictive!!! I swore I'd never do a portrait on it, yet here I am doing one, and for a competition at that! Yikes!

Very nice start to your painting!
