A Little Rembrandt

This is a pen and ink done from a photo of Rembrandt's Two Old Men Disputing, done in a moleskine notebook. My method was to work directly with the pen, no pencil marks. The goal being to force myself to see the important details, shapes, and proportions quickly and work from there. With pencil, I can always erase and start again. I'm hoping that this intermediate step will help me to improve my "working from memory" skills. If I can trick myself into seeing the important stuff quicker, then my memory work should improve.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and didn't come out as distorted as I thought. I may try this approach with some of the Waterhouse copies!
